Position Details: Through collaboration with business leaders, you will determine global facility construction and engineering strategy required to support Grainger's annual and long-term goals. You Will: Provide leadership to staff consistent with position, including: team member development, engagement, talent cultivation (internal/external), performance management, salary planning, communication of organizational strategy, etc. Manage and develop all Construction Project Managers to review and approve plans for new-build or renovation projects, solicit and reviews bids, negotiate with contractors, etc. Provide oversight over a portfolio of projects for quality standards, construction timelines, budgets, etc. This includes driving continuous improvement through ongoing evaluation of current processes & building/site design, and implementing best practices through keeping current on industry standards, attending conventions and meetings with peers in the industry Responsible for developing facility models, standards, and construction processes that optimize Grainger's investment, cash flow, productivity, and team member engagement Deliver the organization's multi-year carbon-based energy mitigation strategy as well as energy, waste, and water reduction efforts Primary liaison between senior business leaders and the teams responsible for delivering facility solutions Collaborates with Planning and Analytics, and Real Estate teams to create long range capital investment plans Partner with Real Estate to create comprehensive negotiation strategies Ensure that purchasing processes are consistent with the best methods and contain essential control mechanisms You Have: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, or related field required At least 7-10+ year's progressive experience in construction, property and energy management, purchasing and contracting Expertise in industrial development, construction, and major renovations/rehab Experience with budgeting, capital planning, and strategic planning across a portfolio of projects Business continuity responsibility statement Ability to anticipate trends, shares best practices, identifies new processes and positively adds to our organization Demonstrated leadership strength, people management & team building skills, and professional development of staff with the ability to manage others with a complex set of responsibilities Proactive approach to identifying critical issues, implementing best practices, and developing staff MS Office, ProCore, Smartsheet, AutoCad, Revit proficiency Experience with accounting principles and financial management Requires up to 25% Travel Rewards and Benefits: With benefits starting day one, Grainger is committed to your safety, health and wellbeing.
