Senior Accountant

Brick Staffing's client is a 40-year-old specialty contractor focused on design/build, steel fabrication and erection, and equipment installation in industries including power generation, food and beverage, aerospace, and transportation. Summary of Job Tasks, Responsibilities, and Objectives: The Senior Accountant is responsible for working with the Controller on the organization's financial reporting, management reporting, account reconciliations, regulatory filings, general ledger entries, and other activities as assigned. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with 3-5 years senior accounting experience, preferably in construction/manufacturing as well as strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, project accounting, and tax compliance. Union experience a big plus. Additionally, the accountant will have excellent problem-solving skills, be able to work well under pressure, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced growth environment. Tasks include: Prepare and review all aspects of financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes Assist in preparation and review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts Participate in preparation of data for project cost accounting, including job costing and work-in-progress reporting Job/manufacturing costing experience Review of accounts payable and accounts receivable entries Reconcile bank accounts and ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts Assist in other account reconciliations and monthly tasks as needed Assist in preparation of the business' tax compliance and reporting requirements in conjunction with regulatory agencies Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information and maintain a robust system of controls to safeguard financial data Assist and participate in organizational audits – including preparing schedules and providing requested documentation Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as internal policies Experience and Training Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field Strong proficiency with construction accounting software and Microsoft Excel Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
