Essential Functions

1. Reviews all patient medication orders for clinical appropriateness and completes applicable inpatient unit order entry.
2. Provides oversight of dispensing, ordering, and restocking of medications for the inpatient hospice unit, where applicable. Performs final verification of all patient specific medication orders for accuracy.
3. Verifies and reviews third party shipping vendor and pharmacy courier deliveries prior to shipment.
4. Support established performance goals for all staff, including minimization and reduction of any and all errors (dispensing/data entry/restock).
5. Assists in maintaining extreme customer service and client relations.
6. Build and maintain practice documents for all established clients and responsibilities to aid in the training of new employees.
7. Maintain inventory per financial and strategic guidelines. Oversee inventory replenishment and order pharmacy product supplies as needed (in conjunction with Lead Technician), including ongoing hospice inpatient and unit dispense machine inventory replenishment, where applicable.
8. Assist the Pharmacy Manager with routine formulary and inventory reviews for inpatient unit facilities.
9. Coordinate effective inventory of labels, vials, and other supplies.
10. Oversee and coordinate proper maintenance of related departmental equipment.
11. Assist Pharmacy Manager in mediation when staff conflict arises, when requested.
12. Foster and maintain a positive work culture/environment.
13. Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.

Supervisory and Managerial Responsibility

•This position does not have supervisory or managerial responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education, Licensure or Certification:
•RPh required, PharmD preferred
•Active pharmacy license in state of pharmacy operation
•Pharmacy licenses in other states or willingness to obtain additional licenses

Work Experience or Related Experience:
•LTC dispensing pharmacy experience
•Hospice and palliative care experience preferred
•Multidisciplinary team leadership experience in a variety of setting preferred

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Demonstrates competency in equianalgesic dosing, generic and therapeutic substitution, formulary management and prior authorization procedures
•Demonstrates understanding, competency and adherence to all state and federal pharmacy practice rules and regulations
•Proficient typing and computer skills are paramount to employee satisfaction and success while fulfilling responsibilities
•Excellent listening skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while paying strict attention to detail
•Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
•Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
•Ability to move from one task to the next efficiently

Equipment:
•Familiarity of Framework LTC dispensing software preferred
•Familiarity of pharmacy automation and remote dispensing preferred
•Working knowledge of a PC, business and communications software (MS Office) and web-based tools are required

•Limited travel may be required

•Work is performed in a professional office environment.
