Description
Shift hours can vary. Must have availability to work evenings and weekends.
Under general supervision, perform a variety of administrative clerical responsibilities such as word processing, filing, data entry and customer service, in support of various City departments.
Examples of Duties
- Provide competent service, in person or through telephone or computer messaging, to the internal and/or external customer, responding to questions, providing information and issuing permits or reports as required.
- Establish and maintain orderly and systematic hard copy files, as required, in alpha or other appropriate order.
- Utilize computerized office equipment to prepare and process accurate and presentable documents, reports, records, etc. Maintain copies on computer record file.
- Compile, package and enter various kinds of numerical and textual data into a computerized system. Generate reports from the data base and provide summary data, as required.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail as required; sorting and delivering letters and small packages, applying necessary postage.
- Store and retrieve materials, records and supplies in and from various building locations including the basement or 2nd levels. Operate various office machines such as calculators, telephones, copiers, etc. as necessary to accomplish responsibilities.
Typical Qualifications
Effective interpersonal service and oral and written communication skills; basic computer literacy with word processing and spreadsheet skills and experience; high school diploma or GED; knowledge of proper English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; knowledge of contemporary office procedures; keyboarding knowledge and experience.
The majority of part-time employees of the City of Fairfield participate in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS). We also provide an Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) and usage of department work-out facilities.
