Looking for your next step forward as an automotive accounting professional? Or are you just tired of working for an organization that doesn't appreciate your efforts?

We are looking for an experienced controller to begin training with our current controller who will be retiring this year. Our ideal candidate has considerable automotive experience but may not have had the chance to shine as the controller. We have multiple stores in two states.

THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the Controller will include:

•Prepare a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and within the manufacturer's format and time frame
•Ensure that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates and co-op advertising are current and accurate
•Ensure floor plan transactions are processed in a timely manner
•Provide process training for accounting staff
•Oversee all day-to-day financial transactions for all stores
•Review the general ledger and scheduled accounts and ensure all issues are reviewed, investigated and resolved
•Review the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable
•Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining required forms, taxes, retirement plan records, etc.
•Manage the dealership computer system to maximize utilization
•Meet with the dealer to evaluate all insurance renewals
•Ensures that all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyses
•Continually strive to improve data integrity and information reporting
•Oversee the accounting team, including the DMV/titling team
•Positive attitude, outstanding communication skills and autonomous spirit

Qualifications

Requirements:
•3+ years of experience as a Controller/ Assistant Controller in retail automotive
•Accounting degree preferred
•Experience managing teams
•Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
