Senior Accountant

LHH is working with a manufacturing company in the aviation space that is adding a new Senior Accountant to their team. They are looking for someone that is proficient in financial reporting and inventory control. This role entails a hands-on approach, encompassing tasks such as journal entries, audit support, cost accounting, overseeing inventory control, ensuring GAAP compliance, and assisting with various accounting functions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Aid in month-end closing procedures.
- Provide assistance for external audit requirements.
- Compile documentation for lending compliance.
- Conduct cost analysis, including inventory, production, and expenses.
- Develop and implement cost accounting systems.
- Prepare Sales and Gross margin reports.
- Offer cost-effective solutions and forecast changes.
- Maintain updated databases and manage cost information.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and fixed asset maintenance.
- Manage inventory-related accounts, including COGS calculations and inventory valuation.
- Analyze inventory-related accounts, investigate variances, and provide explanations.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and internal/external audits.
- Aid in the implementation and testing of inventory-related modules or systems.
- Assist consultants with government reports and tax filings.
- Eventually supervise the daily and monthly cycle of A/R and A/P team transactions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Inventory Control:
- Develop and implement inventory control procedures to ensure accuracy.
- Oversee cycle counts and reconcile variances.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend actions.
- Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to optimize inventory levels.
- Conduct periodic inventory audits to assess compliance.
System and Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance inventory management systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Lead or participate in department-wide process improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- CPA/CMA current or eligible.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in accounting or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Experience in inventory control and cost accounting.
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly in Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
