Position Function :

The Senior Accountant will utilize accounting knowledge and expertise to prepare transactions, reconcile accounts, review financial reports. This position will interact with other programs and departments to provide financial information and reports, review unpaid receivables and research issues. The position will assist the CFO and the Director of Accounting in preparing audit schedules and reconciling accounts. Other general accounting duties may be assigned. This position utilizes advanced accounting knowledge to assist in the administration of the overall fiscal control of the organization.

Requirements :

Education : Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.

Experience : At least three years of general accounting experience, including A/P & A/R, General Ledger, Payroll, and computer skills including MS Word, & MS Excel. MS Excel proficiency at an intermediate level preferred. Experience with Abila (formerly Sage) MIP software and Paylocity payroll software a plus. Nonprofit experience a plus. A least one-year supervising experience preferred.

Functional : Maintain high ethical standards which are outlined in the ACH Child & Family Services Code of Ethics. Ensure that all financial information is current, accurate and reported in a timely manner Work with a cooperative and willing attitude. Communicate effectively with others in the agency and outside of the agency. Cross train with other staff in the department and back up the duties of others when necessary.

Working Conditions :

Sitting at computer for long periods of time.

Exposure to Confidential Information :

Maintain confidentiality & follow policies related to personnel records, client records, payroll records, and ACH's financial records.

Key Expectations/Responsibilities :

•Record transactions and reconcile investment accounts for the Foundation.

•Review uncollected receivables and, when necessary, work with program staff and/or funders to resolve any issues.

•Reconcile balance sheet accounts.

•Assist CFO and Director of Accounting with annual audit.

•Manage accruals.

•Prepare schedules and financial reports.

•Research and resolve variances.

•Prepare various government and contract compliance reports.

•Provide financial and accounting information as requested to other departments and programs.

•Assist in budget preparation and review of actual financial statements for accuracy and trends.

•Manage the yearly ACH Cost Reports.

•Reconcile and update fixed assets, ensuring a clean inventory and accurate depreciation records.

•Adhere to standard practice internal control procedures for all aspects of accounting.

•Other tasks, projects and reports as assigned by the Director of Accounting.
