Job Scope:

  • As an Environmental Specialist with Sun Auto Tire & Service, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standard procedures. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of supporting tasks including facility and database audits, integration support, legal research, permit application filing, and record-keeping. This position offers flexibility, allowing you to work in-office, hybrid. With nearly 500 stores nationwide and ongoing growth, some travel may be required. Here are some key responsibilities associated with this role:
  • Proficient in a corporate role overseeing multi-state locations, with extensive familiarity in environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. Knowledge extends to agencies such as the EPA, CUPA, CERS, HMBP, OSHA, and DOT.
  • Assisting with the development of floor plans, emergency escape maps, and tailored emergency response plans for facilities.
  • Ensuring accurate data retention across all facilities in relation to record-keeping requirements.
  • Continuous auditing of internal database to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct thorough research relating to applicable laws and regulations set forth by agencies such as the EPA, CUPA, CERS, HMBP, OSHA, and DOT.
  • Collaborate with respective local, state, and federal inspectors where necessary in relation to standard compliance or insurance requirements.
  • Assist with applicable permit applications as needed. This may include contacting regulatory agencies or conducting research on applicable laws and regulatory requirement changes.
  • Assist with the integration or closure of new and existing facilities. This will align with coordinating and conducting facility audits, ordering and management of shipment on appropriate equipment and resources for facilities, and ensuring facilities have updated permits and certifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field
  • 5 years of experience with environmental requirements in Automotive Repair or similar Industry
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations
  • Strong Excel Skills required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in data management
  • Strong interpersonal skills
