Job Overview:

Greiner Packaging is seeking a motivated and technically proficient individual to join our team as a Junior Project Engineer. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the success of product introduction with our customers as well as engineering projects within our organization.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Support the launch of new products from design to production with our customers across North America
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to assist in the design, development, and implementation of new packaging solutions.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement.
  • Interface with machinery/mold vendors for technical specification/configuration development.
  • Support the testing and validation of packaging materials and components to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Effectively utilize available tools & GPI standards for project controlling to monitor progress and provide comprehensive overview reports as requested.
  • Participate in prototype development and testing activities to evaluate product performance and functionality.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations, troubleshoot production issues, and propose solutions to optimize manufacturing processes both internally as well as with customers.
  • Effectively plan project schedules & budgets with focus of risk mitigation for flawless execution.
  • Strive to always seek product improvements, efficiency, & cost savings opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in packaging engineering.
  • Adhere to safety + Food Safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
Requirements

Qualifications / Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a similar related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools.
  • Solidworks Suite
  • AutoCAD
  • Adobe Illustrator (desired but not required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit
  • MS Project (desired but not required)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • Self-starter with a positive working attitude.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Industry experience with thermoforming / injection molding is a plus, but not required.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in engineering or manufacturing is a plus.
  • Position will require travelling both domestically and occasional international travel
