Hybrid - Environmental Staff Engineer

Job Title: Environmental Staff Engineer Job Description Coordinates the planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the assigned area of responsibility. This position serves as a training role for those with degrees in a related field but with limited to no field experience. Hard Skills + Conducts site inspections to monitor progress/conformance to specs and procedures + Designs portions of a project + Performs calculations using engineering formulas + Instructs drafters to reduce designs into completed drawings + Conducts routine geotechnical engineering laboratory checks + Leads concrete and rebar inspection testing + Conducts research and writes reports + Prepares samples of unapproved materials for laboratory testing + Uses computer to run standard programs to solve engineering problems + Performs routine laboratory tests to determine various design parameters + Plans and implements engineering programs + Develops and maintains project schedules and budgets + Provides project status reports and adjusts schedules accordingly + Controls expenditures within project budget limitations + Coordinates project staffing requirements + Prepares and delivers project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages + Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles and specifications + Coordinates technical developments and resolves engineering design/test problems + Prepares interim and completion project reports + Provides status and progress reports to customer, project team, and management + Classifies soils according to standard types + Applies geological knowledge to construction projects + Prepares geologic reports and maps + Conducts environmental studies and prepares reports + Directs drilling of exploratory borings and wells + Oversees installation of monitoring wells + Collects soil and groundwater samples for chemical analysis + Determines direction of groundwater flow + Assesses contamination in soil and groundwater + Participates in decision making regarding research priorities + Seeks opportunities to promote company's services Soft Skills + Provides guidance to junior staff and interns + Answers questions and acts as a resource to junior staff + Directs tasks and other junior staff as needed + Identifies potential for new projects + Travels 25% to 100% of the time, potentially out of state Job Type This is a permanent position. Work Site This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site and some remote. Work Environment Hybrid flexibility with 2 work-from-home days a week.
