ABOUT THE POSITION

This position supports FareStart students as they work toward achieving their self-identified goals for personal stability and economic mobility, using a person-centered and trauma-informed approach. This position is responsible for delivering the training program curriculum through in-person and online classrooms. This position works collaboratively with the FareStart staff and Case Managers to ensure that students are advancing in their training and meeting the competency goals of the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Effectively deliver designed curriculum in the classroom and online to prepare students to meet training competencies.
  • Interact with students in a student-trainer environment with ongoing coaching, training, and feedback to the students.
  • Provide instruction to students through virtual and on-site classrooms across all employment training programs.
  • Work closely with Case Managers to address student needs, maintain positive relationships, collaborate to problem solve, support student in achieving their goals, and work as a team to resolve program issues.
  • Review and make recommendations to improve and/or develop curriculum using an aligned approach.
  • Provide students with performance feedback and coaching. Hold students accountable using trauma-informed practices in a productive and professional manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry to student data and completion of paperwork to meet all organizational and funder requirements.
  • Build and foster positive and collaborative working relationships across the organization.
  • Provide a positive educational environment and manage behaviors that can disrupt learning.
  • Actively participate in meetings for student support, program development, organizational information, training, etc.
  • Responsible for classroom setup, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in social services, human services, or related field, and two (2) or more years of experience working with homeless or disadvantaged individuals with barriers to employment (e.g., substance use disorder, criminal history, mental health challenges, domestic violence, inconsistent work history); and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid King County Food Handler's Permit or the ability to obtain one after hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Experience working with customized client databases and technology.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and work in locations with vulnerable populations.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA+, and gender backgrounds.
  • Proficient and experienced in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to work with customized databases and technology and to conduct internet research.
  • Ability to listen patiently and attentively, ability to express self clearly and effectively, and the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, within diverse teams and environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and requests and meet deadlines in a professional manner. Ability to be flexible and adaptable and change plans as needed.
  • Ability to listen, give and receive feedback in a productive and professional manner. Ability to take in new information and perspectives to inform and adapt work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity. Ability to disseminate information effectively to appropriate levels.
  • Ability to evaluate problems and effectively solve them in a timely manner. Ability to respond to concerns with empathy and inclusivity.
  • Ability to employ best practices associated with the position, while displaying an on-going commitment to growth and self-development.
  • Ability to display sensitivity, tact, and responsiveness in various situations and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Proficiency in Customer Relationship Manager (CRM).
