JOB TITLE: Senior Technical Specialist Level 1 (Telecommunications) AGENCY: Construction & Development DEPT/DIV: Delivery/ Systems REPORTS TO: Senior Technical Specialist 3 WORK LOCATION: 2 Broadway HOURS OF WORK: 9:00 AM to 5:30 P M or as required (7.5HR/ DAY ) HAY POINTS: 677 SALARY RANGE: $97,344 to $127,764 DEADLINE: Open Until Filled S ummary Senior Technical Specialist 1 will be involved in all MTA C&D project lifecycle phases , including planning, scheduling, analysis, design, technical specifications, and reports. Res po nsibilities The role will entail some of these typical duties: Designs/supervise s various aspects of a project for MTA systems and infrastructure. Performs technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historic al data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative design projects. Reviews designs, performs/supervises tests and assessments of equipment, software, and materials, and function s/reviews technical calculations. Conducts/supervises site visits to obtain existing conditions and correct ly identify project design and delivery risks. Plans and coordinates required approval documentation and permit s where applicable. Provides/supervises technical field support for system/equipment installation and related project construction. Manages a small team of technical staff. Embraces mentoring from senior staff. Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the area of technical expertise. Coordinates with in-house engineering disciplines and other areas of technical expertise as needed. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate technical discipline or an equivalent subject. Various field s may include, but are not limited to, Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Computer, Communications, Electrical, Electronics, Signals, or Systems Engineering/Technology. Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience . Must have a minimum of two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization and/or with highly complex systems. Competencies: Preferred ( 8 ) eight years of field experience in three or more of the following specialized areas: Access control system CCTV IP video system Public Address system IP telephony and intercom system Fire alarm and detection system IP PBX system UPS and power plant system Fiber cable system Copper cable system Any one of the following network technologies: DWDM, ROADM, SONET, MPLS, Ethernet, COE, TCP/IP, SDN, and analog and digital wireless and radio systems. Experience performing site inspections, system testing activities, overseeing equipment installation, documenting test results, site conditions , and project activities, coordinating with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and responding to contractor requests for information. PMP or relevant technical certifications are desirable. NYS Licensed Professional Engineer a plus. Knowledge of the capital design and construction process. Strong verbal and written communication skills , including the proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proficiency in current design and engineering software is required. Experience visiting the field for initial scope/survey and construction oversight preferred.
