Job Summary

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for handling complex export situations with oversight and guidance from global trade compliance Specialist. Responsibilities include coordination with staff to perform transaction due diligence, analysis of red flags, complex troubleshooting, assisting with training, implementing the compliance procedures and management of trade compliance recordkeeping systems. This role also requires the coordination with business partners, freight forwarders and customs brokers, and various internal departments

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Export Control - Document collection & Audit of Victaulic's Export shipments.
  2. Coordinate with global internal departments including Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Care, Logistics, Engineering and Manufacturing.
  3. Produce and analyze reports from ERP/MRP and other database information systems.
  4. Work pro-actively with departments to prevent trade disruptions.
  5. Analysis of export regulations and tracking of changes.
  6. Prepare and automate reports and information submissions in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).
  7. Review and Update the coordination of export control classification of products for the conduct of import or export transactions.
  8. Prepare and verify export shipping documentation for ad-hoc and other manual shipments.
  9. Coordinate collection of shipment information with freight forwarders and customs brokers as the USPPI.
  10. Monitor and update trade compliance recordkeeping.
  11. Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  12. Understand and live by Victaulic ethics and business code of conduct policies.
  13. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Global Trade & Compliance Manager.

Qualifications

  • U.S.: Familiarity with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) including anti-boycott regulations, sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Customs Regulations (CR), and the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR).
  • Non-U.S.: Familiarity with national customs requirements, export licensing, economic sanctions and arms embargos, re-export and retransfer requirements under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and U.S. anti-boycott regulations.
  • Ability to prepare and review international shipping documents such as commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill, and export license; including consignee information, INCOTERMS, harmonized tariff code and nomenclature, country of origin, customs value, export classification, and license data.
  • Strong computer skills including ability to research orders and prepare reports from databases, Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) information systems, perform spreadsheet calculations, and quickly learn new software tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to prepare business letters and complete forms.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with one or more data analytic / data visualization tool (Power BI, Qlikview) experience with export and/or import regulatory compliance a plus.
  • Experience with Infor M3/ BPCS a plus
  • At least two-three years of experience with export and/or import trade compliance and with international business transactions and shipping documents, or related experience.
