Mechanical Design Engineer

with our client.Contribute to mechanical design and analysis of components with moderate supervisionCarry out the process of designing, documenting, and reviewing engineering design and calculationsAssist in preparation of cost and schedule estimatesPrepare documentation (installation procedures, analysis reports, calculations, system description documents, design reviews)Supervise the process of the drawings by overseeing the preparation, approval, and release of drawings for manufacturingOversee and/or supervise the fabrication, installation, and commissioning of designed componentsWrite specifications and statements of work to establish external standards for suppliers and vendorsDirect the work of a few professionals or support staffs who assist in specific assignment

Job Requirements

Details:

Required:Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in Mechanical Engineering requiredProfessional experience, 2+ years (inclusive of post-BS academic experience), preferably in a scientific or R&D environmentApplication of standard principles and procedures of mechanical engineeringFamiliarity with simple mechanical analysisFluency with 3D modeling/CAD and development/review of fabrication drawingsAbility to work with a diverse group of researchers, engineers, and technicians

Preferred:Knowledge of "State of the Art" manufacturing methodsProficiency with GD&TExperience with metrology and tolerance studiesDesign Experience:

Mechanisms and linkagesHigh heat flux componentsSpecialty materials and austenitic steelsDiagnostic componentsSuperconducting magnetComponents in high vacuum environments
