Student Sound Tech and Event Support

School of Music student workers support the administrative and production needs of the School of Music. Daily functions include supporting the practice rooms, classes, ensembles, concerts, and recitals throughout each semester.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide studio or live sound reinforcement and technical support for School of Music (SOM) events. Student employees will work directly with SOM staff and faculty to facilitate concerts and recitals. Students will either work with live sound reinforcement to support live SOM events, or they will work as studio monitors in the SOM recording studio.Basic Functions:Assist with concerts, recitals, events and recordingsSet up, tear down, and mix live eventsRecord student recitalsAssist during student recording sessionsAbility and willingness to maintain a professional attitude with peersMaintain a level of organization and cleanliness with equipment and roomsProvides excellent customer service to the professors and students of the School of Music.Communicates effectively through both written and spoken means with supervisor, professors, and students.Represents and serves the School of Music in a professional, kind, and humble manner.Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.Additional information may be found hereQUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma1-2 years work experience in any field preferredMinimum:Friendly and willing to serveAbility to take initiative and be proactiveExperience with studio or live sound reinforcementBasic understanding of signal flow regarding the world of audio productionBasic experience with audio mixing consoles or other similar types of equipmentPreferred:Experience mixing, setting up, and tearing down audio equipment in a local church, or experience with recording and producingFamiliar with a Digital Audio Workstation, as well as ProPresenterWork in a team environmentExcellent level of responsibility, reliability, punctuality, and organizationABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOBCommunication and ComprehensionAbility to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.Strong organizational skills.Computer skills - Microsoft SuiteProblem SolvingIntuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.Physical and Sensory AbilitiesRequired to travel across campus on rare occasionsMay be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.WORKING CONDITIONSWork EnvironmentThe working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. For SOM productions and concerts, music levels may be above average, but will not exceed industry and OSHA safety standards. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.
