Assistant Court Administrator

This is an administrative support position responsible for assisting the District Court Administrator with the administration and daily operation of the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas and its Magisterial District Judge Courts. This role manages the County Law Library resources. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the District Court Administrator and the general direction of the President Judge.Job Duties

Schedules civil, criminal, orphans court, and juvenile hearings as needed. Coordinates and prepares orders for court-appointed counsel for dependency/termination cases and prepares scheduling orders.
Schedules all matters in License Suspension Appeals, Summary Criminal Appeals, and Protection from Abuse cases that will appear before the Judge.
Communicates with attorneys, other courts, and the public, in person and by telephone.
Schedules non-judicial functions, such as depositions, arbitrations, pre-hearing conferences, and after-hours meetings.
Produces, files, and distributes mediation conference orders, and pre-hearing conference orders.
Collects fees for mediations, divorce, and custody packets.
Supervises tipstaves for jury selection and trials. Organizes meals for the jury and necessary court staff. If the jury is sequestered, arranges lodgings, meals, transportation, family visits, etc. May require non-traditional hours.
Prepares annual court calendar, coordinating dates with Judges, Public Defenders, and the District Attorney.
Manages the county law library and publications. Negotiates terms of contracts with Thomson Reuters.
Executes administrative decisions when the District Court Administrator is absent.
Arranges video conferences with the Public Defender, District Attorney, and Judge.
Prepares monthly statistical reports for AOPC and submits a bi-yearly report to AOPC.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent, AND
Three years of administrative or office support experience in a legal, judicial, or governmental setting.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.
Additional Requirements
Satisfactory criminal background check required.
