Regulatory Specialist - Any ADM Office

MAIN FUNCTION:

The specialist role provides Regulatory know-how and expertise to support the overall business strategy of the organization, both internally and externally. It involves regular verbal and electronic communication with R&D, logistics, sales, vendors and customers to support the growth and productivity of the business. This position is also responsible for activities that assist ADM customers in placing their product(s) onto various markets in compliance with the relevant rules, both domestic and international.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of US and International food regulations that apply to ADM product portfolio and capable of interpretation of relevant regulations and certification schemes (Kosher, Halal, Organic, NGPV, etc.)
  • Technical understanding and interpretation of vendor documentation and other sources of raw material regulatory data
  • Food and flavor labeling (including nutritional labeling, GMO/BE, etc.) and knowledge of GHS SDS authoring and HAZMAT classification for Transportation.
  • Communication skills that can relate regulatory topics to non-regulatory audiences in a clear, concise manner
  • Attention to detail in electronic and written work
  • Ability to focus on priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
  • Regulatory evaluation of the company's ingredients for the intended industry (e.g. food, beverage, animal feed, dietary supplements)
  • Communications with vendors for new/existing raw material data and documents
  • Data maintenance including interpretation of vendor documents, and creation and maintenance of technical regulatory data in the company database for ingredients.
  • Data preparation and clean up for transition to SAP
  • Evaluate data changes and works cross-functionally with business partners on path forward
  • Working cross-functionally and cross-culturally with all ADM Regions (NA, LATAM, EMEA, APAC)
  • Working hours may need to adjust for some projects in other regions
  • Perform other duties and special assignments as required
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • BS Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Food Science or other related field; and/or equivalent qualifications through Science Associates degree and job experience
  • 2-5 years of regulatory experience, preferably in food/beverage, flavor or related industries
  • Strong, independent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills: proficient in MS Office packages; trainable in other software programs (SAP, Sphera IA, Genesis, Open Text)
  • Proven interpersonal skills including ability to work well in a team environment, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills
  • English required, bilingual preferred (Spanish, Portuguese, German, Mandarin)
Salary/Wage Range: $60K to $90K.
