Birmingham, United States Storyteller Overland Full time

Our History: The Storyteller Overland vibe started out as a drawing on a restaurant napkin in 2017 illustrating a desire to help people live more adventurous lives. Back then, very few had ever heard of an adventure van, and some at the restaurant table with CEO Jeffrey Hunter had doubts it would ever sell. The company officially launched in 2018 with a humble yet confident team of seven employees. Over the next year, we worked on launching our MODE 4x4 and finding dealer partners to work with, and finally, the dream was turning into a reality. We’ve been fortunate to be full speed ahead since then. We’ve added sister companies to our galaxy and built out quite the impressive team – hopefully you included. We hit 500 vans built, then 1,000, then so many more that these milestones became difficult to keep track of. We’ve added new vehicles to our lineup and have built a massive community of like-minded adventurers that also continues to grow. As we reflect on our history, though, we remind ourselves that our best ideas are still ahead of us, not behind us. Here’s to saying yes to the next grand adventure Workplace Vibe: We are proud to have a values-based culture, which means we focus less on rules & transacting and more on values & transforming. Our goal is to create workplaces and spaces where great people can do great things in order to thrive and flourish both professionally and personally. Role Overview: As an Electrical Engineer you will be a key component of Storyteller Overland’s Technology, Engineering, and Design (TED) team. You will take full ownership of electrical design challenges and see them through to resolution as they are your own, while being a superior brand ambassador of our reputation within our vibrant community of vanlifers, adventure seekers, and outdoor enthusiasts. General Responsibilities: Utilize SolidWorks to create detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and 3D models for electrical components and systems Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs with mechanical and other engineering disciplines Select appropriate components such as inverters, batteries, charge controllers, etc. and integrate selected components into the overall vehicle electrical system, considering cost, performance, compatibility and functionality Conduct tests and simulations using SolidWorks to validate and optimize electrical designs to ensure that the electrical architecture meets the requirements for performance, safety, and reliability Analyze and interpret test data, making necessary adjustments to improve the performance and efficiency of electrical systems Manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring that designs meet project requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints Coordinate with other engineering teams to seamlessly integrate electrical systems into overall project designs Create and maintain detailed documentation of electrical designs, schematics, and BOM’s using SolidWorks Generate reports, manuals, and documentation for technical reference and future development Ensure that electrical designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations Stay informed about changes in regulations and integrate them into SolidWorks designs Manage and maintain Solidworks Electrical drawing templates, PDM/PLM data, drawing standards, and workflows Work closely with mechanical engineers, technicians, and other professionals to achieve integrated and high-quality designs Provide technical support and expertise to cross-functional teams Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in electrical design workflows Work Schedule: Operating hours are generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M - F Work Location: In Office (Birmingham, Alabama) Qualifications/Skills: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with expertise in using SolidWorks for the design and development of electrical systems and components for the HILT truck line. You will play a key role in creating innovative solutions, ensuring the functionality and reliability of electrical systems, and contributing to the success of our projects.
