Our Mechanical Engineers are responsible for the mechanical design of our cutting-edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. Most of our products are custom, so most designs start from a blank canvas. You'll create conceptual designs for internal and external approval, work with multi-discipline engineering teams to obtain inputs, and produce drawings to drive procurement and operations. You'll support the product through the design and development phase, through production, and throughout the product lifecycle. If you like to get things done and get your hands on the products you design, SNC is the place for you. Must-haves: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance Preferred: Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 Understanding of Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis Experience with CATIA 3DExperience Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes Familiarity with industry standard drafting standards per ASME Y14.100 or the DRMs Familiarity with reverse engineering practices to include 3D scanning and hand-surveying Familiarity with additive manufacturing (3D printing) At Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) we deliver customer-focused technology and best-of-breed integrations in the aerospace and defense sectors.
