Summary:
We currently have an opening for a Systems Analyst in our Information Technology division who will design, implement, maintain, and support our Energy Management System (EMS), advanced Distribution Management System (DMS), data historian, and other computer systems required to monitor and operate the transmission and distribution systems of GRE and the member cooperatives.
Responsibilities:
Working with System Operations and member cooperatives to ensure software is developed and maintained to provide required functions and reports.
Developing and administering processes and procedures to ensure EMS availability is maintained at greater than 99.95%.
Designing, developing, and maintaining interfaces to the vendor-provided software including EMS, DMS, data historian, and other related systems.
Providing technical support and assistance to staff and member cooperatives including participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Assisting with analysis of software problems and ensuring they are corrected or reported to appropriate people for resolution.
Ensuring cyber security and NERC requirements are met and reporting any suspected non-compliance to these requirements.
Ensuring backup control center system availability and disaster recovery requirements are met.
Monitoring technology changes to ensure GRE has the best available systems to operate the electrical system.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field and 3-7+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting business systems or applications OR 2+ years post high school education in a technology-related field and 5-9+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting business systems or applications is required.
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or computer science is preferred.
Minimum of 3-7+ years’ experience in software design, development, and support of transmission system operations in a real-time environment strongly preferred.
Knowledge of computer system hardware and software including operating systems, virtualization, databases, and interfaces is required.
Knowledge and understanding of real-time data acquisition and control systems and their applications to electrical power systems is required.
Knowledge and experience in Linux and Windows operating systems administration, shell scripting, and relational databases are desirable.
Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and best practices.
Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements is preferred.
Skills in communication, conflict resolution, project management, technical processes development, multitasking, decision-making, teamwork, and adaptability.
Working Conditions:
Normal office conditions with visits to customer sites, plants, and service centers. Exempt personnel are expected to work the necessary hours to get the required work accomplished. This position is subject to 24/7 support as needed. Travel may be required to support remote sites and attend training and conferences. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
