Position Title: Teacher/Site Coordinator - Crisp/Sumter
Reports To: Director of GNETS
FLSA Status: Exempt
Primary Function:
Provides appropriate instruction in a safe and orderly environment conducive to learning for all students assigned.
Requirements:
Educational Level: Master's or Specialist Degree in the Education.
Certification/Licensing: Valid GA or eligible Teacher's Certificate in Special Ed and Leadership or in a Leadership Program
Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills, student management, supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to employ a variety of instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners. Ability to deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude, physical skills and stamina to perform essential duties.Salary: Georgia/Local Certified Salary Schedule - 10 month

RESPONSIBILITIES - Teacher
  • Certification/Licensing: Valid or eligible for a GA Teacher's Certificate in Special Education
  • This position involves designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum materials, and employing various teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of the students
  • The Special Education Teacher collaborates with other educators, support staff, and families to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success and growth
  • Assesses students' academic abilities, strengths, and areas for growth to develop personalized learning goals;
  • Collaborates with parents/guardians, school staff, and other professionals to create comprehensive IEPs that address students' unique needs and challenges;
  • Designs and implements instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications to support students in achieving their IEP goals;
  • Creates or adapts instructional resources, such as visual aids, manipulatives, and interactive materials, to support;
  • Assists in maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment by enforcing rules and expectations;
  • Monitors student behavior and intervenes as necessary to address disruptions;
  • Participates in training sessions, workshops, or professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director/Principal

RESPONSIBILITIES - Site Coordinator
  • Certification in Leadership or working on Leadership degree
  • Adapt and develop materials to provide a differentiated approach
  • Accommodates individual needs of each student
  • Provide specialized instruction designed with the educational, emotional, social and vocational needs of students
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Advising school Principal/Director on special education programs
  • Collaborating with teachers and staff to plan short and long-term special services
  • Developing instructional materials
  • Coordinating educational content
  • Incorporating current technology into instruction
  • Training and coaching teachers
  • Assessing and evaluating programs
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of current Special Education regulations and best practice
  • Provide professional development, consultation, and resources to special education teachers regarding placement, curriculum, and procedures.
  • Analyze assessment results to drive instruction and IEP development
  • Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings in a collaborative and professional manner
  • Support general education teachers and administrator in implementation of appropriate strategies to meet the needs of students with IEPs
  • Create and maintain Special Education documentation
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director/Principal
