Plant Controller

Our client, a privately-held manufacturing company that's established and growing (revenue and EBITDA have doubled in the past two years) located about an hour south of Chicago near Interstate 57, is hiring a Plant Controller at one of the company's largest and most profitable plants, managing one staff with potential to add an additional staff in the near future, and working closely with the Plant General Manager (based at the Plant), as well as the Corporate Controller and the Corporate CFO (based at the corporate HQ in another state). The company is a leader in its field, manufacturing products for both commercial and residential use, under brand names we all commonly recognize.
Aside from supervising and reviewing the work of one Staff (who's performing mostly Cost Accounting for the Plant), the Plant Controller will manage, direct and perform most accounting and FP&A work related to the Plant.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare month-end close reports
Produce and analyze variances to budget and forecast
Analyze and reconcile G/L accounts
Prepare reporting for Plant KPI's, production, productivity, etc.
Prepare cost models for new products, production changes for existing products, improvements to manufacturing processes, introduction of new equipment, etc.
Manage, quantify and support cost savings opportunities with other Plant managers
Leverage Plant personnel and knowledge to improve and streamline explanations and accuracy of cost actuals, variances and trends; provide consultative advice regarding the economic impact of current results, the proper course of action, etc.
Produce Plant forecasts on a monthly basis utilizing Plant KPI's, and production drivers
Produce Plant expense budget on an annual basis
Create and update cost standards
Manage and reconcile inventory, and ensure cycle count procedures are followed
Manage and reconcile fixed assets
Respond to internal customer inquiries, suggestions, etc.
Educate Plant team regarding costs, productivity, accounting, margins, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
8+ total years of relevant, 'hands on' accounting / finance experience
2+ years of relevant Plant Controller experience at a manufacturing company
2+ years of experience managing others
Knowledge and 'hands on' experience with ERP systems
Proficient in Excel
