We are looking for a senior specialist to join our Energy Team in the US, building on our strong track record such as New York Citys Roadmap to 80x50 and GeoMicroDistricts work to decarbonize gas utilities, and to support the team with the Energy Transition, winning new commissions and delivering excellent outcomes for our clients. Wherever your Buro Happold career takes you, itll be anything but ordinary.Responsibilities: Strong energy skills including a track record of successful project delivery for a range of client typesAbility to apply systems approach to complex problems in the energy and/or built environment sectorsExperience in geothermal and/or central plant designAbility to manage internal and external teams to project completionExperience of working as a consultant and leading consulting engagements direct to clientWork-winning skills with public and private sector clients/stakeholdersPreparing proposals for clients and development of client propositionsAbility to determine client requirements and deploy various resources to meet themExperience providing overall guidance to and management of junior staffExperience liaising with stakeholders, including organizing and leading workshopsNetwork of contacts within client organizations who commission energy planning work such as various tiers of government, campus/private network operators, real estate developers and utilitiesA strong understanding of energy policy within North AmericaKnowledge and experience of energy system modelling including techno-economic modelling of energy systems Strong demonstration of written and oral communications and presentation skills, and ability to communicate complex engineering and planning concepts (i.e. decarbonization, resilience) effectively to diverse audiences including municipal government, private investors, and community groupsDesirable skills:Advanced degree or research background in energy systems or similarBachelors Degree level, or equivalent, in with emphasis on physical science or engineering background8+ years experience working on large scale, multi-disciplinary projects in urban development and/or infrastructureProfessional Engineers (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification or similarExperience in managing staff at the project and organization levelUnderstanding of the market and supply chain for energy systems including geothermal, power/smart grid, district energy, energy storage and renewables in the USStrong understanding of the revenue models and costs associated with energy systemsExperience of developing evidence-based policyAbility to assemble collaborative teams to compete for innovation fundingExperience of energy system design such as geothermal, district heating and cooling, power generation, CHP and renewablesWhat we offer:Salary range of $115,000 to $150,000.
