Summary/Objective The Customer Service Representative serves as the primary contact for external customers. They will work directly with customers to quickly solve problems to the customer’s satisfaction and educate customers about product offerings and company services. Responsibilities Place orders accurately and in a timely manner. Answer all customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Process orders received by fax and through incoming/outgoing calls. Process projected or standing orders according to customer guidelines. Responsible for maintaining proper cash accounting. Accurately count all currency, coin, checks and money orders. Daily reconciliation of cash drawer and electronic deposits. Twice weekly reconciliation of cash deposits. Resolve unexpected customer problems using a team-based approach. Maintain high quality standards in customer interactions. Identify opportunities to improve Customer Service processes, procedures, and practices. Distribute call assignments to other Customer Service Representatives daily. Print, check off, and distribute documents to Warehouse personnel, Production personnel and Drivers on a timely basis, meeting deadlines throughout the day. Assist in Customer Service department as needed. Essential Functions Talk, hear, read, write, and comprehend English. Accurately count currency and coin. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment; handling frequent interruptions positively. Ability to use a PC, 10 key calculator and other electronics. Ability to open a safe. Ability to work flexible hours / days to support business hours and needs. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to work independently and within group projects. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work at desk/computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer or related office equipment. Must be able to grasp, push, reach, or stoop/kneel/crouch. Frequently required to stand and walk. Must be able to walk up a flight of stairs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Preferred Education and Experience High School education or equivalent required. Prior customer service experience preferred. Data entry and computer literacy preferred. Knowledge of cash handling and deposits preferred.
