Sr. Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing EngineeringDepartment: Advance Manufacturing EngineeringEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Itasca, ILReporting To: Rich ScheleskiDescriptionResponsible for managing projects involving process development and mechanization, in context of new product development and productivity improvement in the manufacturing area. This includes initiating, evaluating and implementing solutions to design and production problems, as well as coordinating design changes and improvements necessary to improve manufacturability.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate in projects to improve existing process and product designs, including cost analysis, equipment justification, and assist in product transfers. Work with global cross-functional teams to identify quality, yield and process improvement opportunities with a focus on cost reduction using lean manufacturing principles.Formulate proposals for projects to design and implement new processes, equipment, and mechanization of processes. Implements and supports Value Creation initiatives and programs.Coordinates introduction of new and redesigned products, coordinates special projects and performs feasibility study to improve quality, performance and cost effectiveness of products. Position involves travel overseas for product transfers and support. Support production through timely documentation, process analysis & improvement, defect analysis, and other technical support Develop and define new manufacturing processes to support new product development.Research, develop, characterize and implement new material systems and applications.Supply technical support for overseas facilities as required. Provide process leadership and technical training.Assists and manages subcontractor companies in developing, piloting and implementing manufacturing systemsSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseB.S. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering plus minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environmentInternal manufacturing/Process leadership (assembly and test processes, and experience leading product design teams with responsibility to transfer products into production)Personal computer skills and knowledge of associated applications. (Experience with windows based environment, word processing, spreadsheets, manufacturing programs (simulations and mathematical), drafting, documentation and MRP systems. Demonstrated ability to solve issues effectively and efficiently; process and change orientedExperience with adhesive systems, plastic molding, laser welding, and metal stamping for micro-miniature assembliesWillingness to travel overseas to support manufacturing operations (travel requirement will not typically exceed 10% annually)Strong analytical skills, experience in statistical process control (Six Sigma certification desirable), DOE, and other statistical techniquesUnderstanding of the ISO 9000 requirementsExperience working with mechanical fixtures and tooling printsStrong oral and written communication skills, influencing and negotiating skills, ability to work effectively on a team; self-directed and motivated; and strong interpersonal skillsEEO-M/F/D/VJob DescriptionResponsible for managing projects involving process development and mechanization, in context of new product development and productivity improvement in the manufacturing area.
