About the role

The Union Mobile Engineer will manage providing hands-on support for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of large chiller systems spread across multiple job sites. This dynamic role requires deep technical expertise in chiller operations, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team. This position is supporting our client in the Northern California market. Some overnights will be required.
What you'll do
Operate, maintain, and repair chiller systems (600 tons and under) in the field to ensure standards.
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mobile chiller units to minimize downtime and extend system lifespan.
Evaluate and diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions; implement effective repair strategies promptly.
Monitor system performance and make adjustments as needed using control software and diagnostic tools.
Ensure compliance with safety laws, industry standards, and company policies at each job site.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and service reports for all chiller systems serviced.
Participate in after-hours on-call support and emergency response as required.
What you'll need
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in engineering, HVAC technology, or a related field is preferred.
Valid journeyman certification or equivalent experience in a similar mobile engineering role.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working with large chiller systems (600 tons or more).
Universal EPA Required
Strong understanding of HVAC principles, chiller mechanics, and control systems.
Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems on-site.

The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union position is $81.45 per hour. Please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding pay scale.
