**SUMMARY STATEMENT**:
Direct and manage the daily and long-range strategic operations of the Museum's Facilities to provide a safe, welcoming, comfortable, Museum experience for ALL visitors, staff and volunteers. Responsible for leading the initiative for the Museum's Climate Action Planning, the operation of an effective preventative maintenance plan and ongoing operation of the Museum's physical plant and grounds. Responsible for implementation of construction and/or facility related projects in conjunction with the long-range strategic plan. Overall responsibility for permits, licenses, and compliance with governmental regulatory requirements pertaining to the operation of the building.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Direct and manage the daily and long range strategic operations of the Museum's Facilities and grounds to provide a safe, welcoming, comfortable, Museum experience for ALL visitors, staff and volunteers.
- Responsible for leading the initiative for the Museum's Climate Action Planning by gathering data on the Museum's environmental impact, analyzing and presenting the data, formulating plans and policies for managing the impact and operating in sustainable ways. Manage the delivery of these plans and policies and monitor performance against targets.
- Responsible for the managing an effective preventative and corrective maintenance plan for the Museum's physical plant and grounds.
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of facilities related projects in conjunction with the long range strategic plan and for the day to day communication with contractors, consultants, architects, In-house maintenance staff, and the Museum community about the impact and progress of projects as it affects them.
- Responsible to effectively develop and administer budgets for the facilities department including the general operating budget, grants and various construction and renovation/infrastructure project budgets. Ensure that the Museum's electrical, steam, natural gas, water and other resources are utilized effectively by creating and developing initiatives in systems design and purchasing practices so that the museum uses these resources as economically and efficiently as possible.
- Hire, train, develop, motivate, resolve conflicts and evaluate staff in order to ensure that the Museum has the appropriate resources necessary to meet its overall objectives. Supervise and coach a staff of administrative staff, technicians, mechanics, plumbers, painters, and other trades. Counsel staff and make available both educational and experience based opportunities for personal development and promotion. Develop and maintain a spirit of teamwork, ownership and accomplishment so that the museum and these employees receive maximum benefits from their efforts.
- Maintain liaison with government officials involved with the museum property, including building inspectors, fire department inspectors, and other compliance officers. Ensure that the museum complies with Cambridge, Boston, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Federal Codes & Regulations such as OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DEP, etc. Responsibility for permits, licenses, and compliance with governmental regulatory requirements pertaining to the operation of the building.
- Responsible for responding to facilities related emergency incidents on the property that may be a threat to the safety of staff, guests, and property. Emergency incidents include but are not limited to bomb threats, fire alarms, natural disasters, power or equipment failure, building evacuations, spill response and other crisis' as defined in the Museum's Crisis Management Plan.
- Perform other work-related duties as required by Manager. Be on call 24 hours a day to ensure continuous operation of facility systems. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime as requested by management.
**WORK SCHEDULE**:
This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelors of Science or Arts degree.
- 10 or more years of facilities engineering / management experience.
- Demonstrated ability managing the daily and long range strategic operations for the installation, preventive maintenance, condition assessment and troubleshooting of building operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability for overseeing a diverse portfolio of construction and renovation projects including plan design and development, bid documents, analyzing proposals, contract administration, and job-site supervision. Providing liaison between architects, engineers, public agencies and contractors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, train, develop, motivate, resolve conflicts and evaluate a diverse staff.
