**About the role**:
**What you’ll do**:

- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company goals and growth objectives.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, collaborating with various departments to prepare detailed annual budgets and strategic plans.
- Manage financial reporting, analysis, and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to real estate finance, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to make informed financial decisions, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
- Provide leadership to the finance team, foster a culture of excellence, and mentor a staff of nine accounting personnel, including an Assistant Controller.
- Oversee cash management processes and review quarterly projection schedules to optimize liquidity and financial performance.
- Coordinate tax and audit planning with external auditors/tax practitioners, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.
- Implement internal controls, policies and procedures, and best business practices for the company and its investments, driving operational efficiency and risk mitigation.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; an MBA or CPA is preferred but not mandatory.
- 5 - 7 years of experience in a leadership role, managing teams in challenging environments.
- Background in property management, particularly with government-subsidized properties, is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to execute financial reports under tight timelines, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with Yardi software or similar financial management systems.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the property management industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Experience working in smaller companies with direct reports and a hands-on approach to leadership.
