Summary:
Reporting to the Director of the Epicenter and Nursing Operations is responsible for planning organizing and directing supportive functions for the Patient Care Services Department. Functions as a liaison for Patient Care Services with other key departments including but not limited to Facilities CSD Biomedical Engineering Finance Contracting and Purchasing and contracted vendors.. Manages/co-manages special orders places orders for capital and non-capital equipment and coordinates related projects for Patient Care Services with the appropriate hospital leaders. Manages up to 5 Support Service Coordinators. Schedules assigns work to and conducts performance appraisals for Support Service Coordinators

**Responsibilities**:
The Manager of Support Services Interviews and selects prospective employees and completes performance appraisals.

Takes requests for special orders and certain non-capital and capital equipment for Patient Care Services. Requests may include but aren
- t limited to specialty beds wound VACs computer equipment and accessories furniture appliances and specialty items for both adult and pediatric units and patients.

Ensures timely ordering and facilitates timely delivery of ordered items to the extent possible.

Evaluates workflows and processes and makes recommendations to streamline processes through the identification of non-value-added steps and waste.

Arranges for the retrieval and transport of certain paper forms that require off-site storage for extended periods.

Manages day-today department operations within established budget limitations. Completes budget worksheets in consideration of operating goals financial targets and projected changes in volume or type of services. Confers with Director regarding implementation of changes to budget requests and allocations. Regularly monitors and prepares monthly reports analyzing actual versus budgeted performance. Initiates and/or approves request for purchases within established guidelines.

Collaborates with the Director of Nursing Strategic Business Planning Analysis for the capital budget process for Patient Care Services.

Maintains department records. Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and documents (often of a confidential nature) requiring interpretation and compilation of data i.e. budget reports billings time sheets etc.

Establishes maintains and revises as necessary records and filing systems. Often handles highly confidential material such as budget payroll patient and personnel data.

Maintains a supply of specialty forms for various patient care units and distributes as requested.

Maintains department records. Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and documents (often of a confidential nature) requiring interpretation and compilation of data i.e. budget reports billings time sheets etc.

Establishes maintains and revises as necessary records and filing systems. Often handles highly confidential material such as budget payroll patient and personnel data.

Maintains a supply of specialty forms for various patient care units and distributes as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Other information:
**BASIC KNOWLEDGE**:
Requires a bachelor
- s degree in a healthcare related field.

Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Requires the interpersonal skills to interface with vendors employees nursing personnel and other departments to exchange information and resolve problems.

Requires the conceptual ability to identify and resolve routine problems within areas of responsibility.

Ability to coordinate efficient workflows and the ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate effective communication skills.

Services Departments. Assists to maintain the capital budget database.

Performs other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Requires a minimum of 2 years
- hospital experience including leadership responsibility in a patient or healthcare setting.

Must have experience with evaluating and creating or revising workflows to gain optimal efficiency.

Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

Must be highly organized with the ability to effectively multi-task and problem solve.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:
Normal office environment

May required some walking to assign work and observe employee performance.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY**:
Responsible for recruitment interviewing hiring developing coaching counseling and/or termination of employees.
