POSITION: Special Education OP
- ELA REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Assistant Principal

CONTRACT LENGTH: 9 Month

CATEGORY: B POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

SPECIAL EDUCATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage registration for all SPED students ○ Entering information ○ Uploading paperwork ○ Contacting parents, if necessary, to finish the process
- Manage the registration for Move in SPED students and verify that we have all documentation needed for the student to receive services
- Manage Move Out SPED students, making sure they leave with updated and accurate information to start at their new school
- Manage transportation ○ Set up for all qualifying students ○ Keep updated list
- Bus duty four times a day, taking attendance of students on the bus during arrival, and making sure every student gets on the right bus at dismissal
- Manage ECOs for teachers twice a year
- Manage ELL process for SPED students
- Update forms and documents throughout the year
- Phone communication with parents, as needed
- Manage end of year procedures, finalize paperwork and files for students going to kindergarten
- Take all files to the schools where students will attend kindergarten
- Manage and create spreadsheets, microsoft word documents, google documents, and other programs as needed
- Support staff with other duties as needed -PPS meetings/paperwork

BUILDING SUPPORT:

- Support the front office as needed
- Training parents to use the Talker
- Manage 200 students
- Register all special ED/ELA students BILINGUAL SUPPORT:

- Assessment Clinic translate Parent interviews and health history as needed for Spanish speaking families
- Interpreting for parents in IEP meetings (Only those who are certified translators)
- Interpreting for parents and staff as needed
- Translating documents for parents in their native language
- Translating documents as needed for families

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly/daily. The employee is required to use computers and other office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read type or hand-written material. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet but can also be that of a school and can be loud when in places like gyms and cafeterias. The employee is continuously interacting with students and staff.
