**JOB INFORMATION**:
Non-exempt; part-time; varied work schedule; working up to 29 hours per week; no-benefits

This position performs comprehensive warehouse/inventory and shipping/receiving duties to assist and support logistics operations for the Division of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS). These duties will include daily pick-up and delivery of mail, inventory items and other DFRS-related materials requiring vehicle transport between County fire stations and fire/rescue vendors. Assist the Equipment Technicians with mounting equipment on fire apparatus, repairs to small tools and gas powered equipment. Supervision is received from the Logistics Warehouse Manager.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Receive and fill equipment and material orders from fire and rescue companies, dispense from in-stock stores when possible or requisition and purchase as appropriate (orders will cover all manner of gear, tools, etc. worn by or used by fire and rescue personnel, including helmets/boots/turn-out coats, fire hose, air masks, deck guns, rescue tools, medical supplies, etc.)
- Maintain accurate financial records for charging purchased items, including manual records and computerized records
- Maintain and repair small engines and other equipment
- Mounting of Fire Equipment on new Fire Apparatus
- Monitor vendors' performance, product quality and reliability
- Access and maintain a computer database for inventory and property accountability
- Maintain property records and affix numbered inventory tags as appropriate
- Record, monitor and perform annual on-site check of capital property in the fire and rescue stations
- Prepare and package items for shipment via US Mail or insured carrier
- Load, unload and store truck deliveries, check delivery slips against purchase orders and invoices, stamp and log in all items
- Perform inventory management and develop appropriate inventory reserves
- Assist the Equipment Technician with service, maintenance, and repair on specialty equipment, training props, and small machinery
- Assist with scheduling and performing various apparatus and equipment testing
- Drive a County van or other vehicle to transport materials between DFRS office and logistics warehouse, vendors and County fire and rescue companies; load and unload cargo from the County vehicle
- Respond as needed in emergency situations to provide warehouse support and/or to deliver warehouse materials to emergency scene
- Perform general upkeep on the assigned vehicle (e.g. maintain fuel and fluid levels, perform incidental repairs, keep use and mileage records)
- Perform other related duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**:

- High school graduation, or the equivalent
- Possession of a valid automobile operator's license

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Ability to maintain County Authorized Driver privileges
- Ability to effectively access and utilize computerized systems and equipment, including procurement, database management, word processing and electronic communications
- Ability to effectively create, update and maintain accurate manual and computerized files and filing systems
- Strong and effective written and spoken (English) communication skills, including the ability to prepare memorandums and professional correspondence
- Accurate math and clerical skills including the ability to prepare and maintain daily and cumulative inventory information
- Ability to effectively organize work, determine priorities and complete assigned duties with mínimal supervision
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers (both volunteer and on-staff), vendors and the general public

**PREFERENCE MAYBE GIVEN FOR**:

- Possession of a forklift certification
- Experience performing procurement-related or inventory duties

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently sit, walk, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds; occasionally climb and reach; and rarely crawl, lift over 50 pounds, and push and pull up to and over 40 pounds
