IT Cybersecurity Specialist

**Duties**:

- Serves as a senior specialist and systems administrator.
- Develops and implements systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required to support organizational objectives.
- Develops standards and criteria for assessing server performance, availability, capacity or configuration problems.
- Develops procedures for responding to new threats to systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability
- Checks key files for problems and reviews operations to ensure only valid processes are running.
- Reallocates resources as they become available, optimizes systems performance and recommends additional componentsto improve overall performance.
- Manages the installation of software and hardware, systems fixes, updates and enhancements.

**Requirements**:
**Conditions of Employment**:

- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Top Secret security clearance required
- Drug testing required

- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Problem Solving

**Qualifying Experience**:
To qualify at the **GG-12,** your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. **For this position, qualifying experience is defined as**: Experience with generating and analyzing Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager Environment (MECM) Reports and administrating Windows 10 Workstations.**

**Education**:
**There is no substitution of education for the** **qualifying experienceat the GG-12 grade level**

**Additional information**:

- **This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.**:

- **This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.**:

- A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.

- Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.
- This position requires pre-employment and periodic counter-intelligence polygraph exams.

- This is an Information Security (INFOSEC) position. In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selectee must meet Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selected must meet Information Assurance Certification standards. Selectee must have an approved waiver prior to placement in this position or achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of IA duties. Level 1 certification is required prior to be authorizing unsupervised privileged access.
- This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency.
