Kennel Technician

Aside from being your traditional animal shelter; we provide support and services to NYC. We are looking for people to join our team of kennel technicians, who provide care for the shelter's dogs. This includes walks, proper nutrition, proper disinfection protocols, provide medication when deemed necessary, and being able to identify and report medical and behavioral issues. They must make sure kennels or crates are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis throughout the day in a timely manner. Kennel technicians must work with other staff members, oversee interns, and volunteers. Kennel technicians must also help with laundry, and putting away donations, deliveries, incoming animals to the shelter, etc.
They should also be capable of helping our client services department in showing dogs to potential adopters.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide care for the shelter's dogs, which includes feeding, cleaning and disinfecting, walking.
- Assess the shelter's dogs and report any health or behavioral issues.
- Utilize volunteers and interns to help meet the needs of the shelter.
- Provide helpful information to potential adopters.
- Evaluate facility space for dog intakes.
- Conduct frequent rounds to ensure a quality environment for shelter's dogs.
- Perform relevant duties as assigned.
Skill Requirements
- Experience in handling dogs preferred.
- Ability to work independently and cohesively with staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be prepared to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
- Must love dogs
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 - 40 per week
