The Jan Companies, a large, multi-state restaurant & hospitality company is looking to hire an experienced Payroll Accountant.

Payroll Manager performs the day-to-day functions of payroll and employee benefits with the primary focus of the role being the timely and accurate payroll processing and benefits administration in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and company policies.

**Roles & Responsibilities**:

- Payroll Administration-_
- Process accurate and on-time weekly and bi-weekly payrolls, maintaining multiple payroll systems including new hire information, terminations, pay rates, direct deposits, garnishments, tax withholdings, benefit deductions and other payroll related data.
- Accountable for the financial integrity of the payroll process including reconciliation of time and attendance systems. Review of quarterly tax preparation and reporting and W2 year-end accuracy testing.
- Manage the administration of payroll in compliance with FLSA wage and hour requirements for salaried and hourly employees in multiple states.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service, communication verbal and written, and problem solving to resolve employee questions related to paychecks, deductions, benefits and taxes.
- Maintain Onboarding system for all hires across multiple companies, including final review, form updates and security access.
- Reporting - Create ad hoc reports, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, assist in audits. Provide accounting with accurate general ledger reporting and assistance with reconciliations.
- Process employment verifications according to established department procedures.
- Benefits Administration-_
- Maintain the enrollment for benefit plans including group medical, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and 401(k) retirement plan. Ensure the accuracy of benefits coverage based on employee eligibility and election including corresponding payroll deductions and vendor invoicing.
- Conduct annual open enrollment period. This includes preparation and distribution of materials to eligible employees.
- Process disability claims and 401(k) distribution requests. Assist with leave of absences.
- Enroll newly eligible employees in benefits and update benefits based upon life changes and qualifying events. Prepare annual forms 1095 in compliance with ACA regulations and reporting.

**Requirements**:

- Experience working in a multi-state corporation.
- Excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, sensitivity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Flexible, able to perform and deliver excellent results under pressure.
- Self-motivated and able to operate independently and also able to work as a member of a team.
- A minimum of 5 years experience working in payroll.
- Preferred experience using: Paylocity, Jonas, RTI, SICOM, Club Prophet, PosiTouch, etc.
