The Community Services Department provides exceptional arts, recreational, educational, cultural, and library services to the community to enhance and maintain a high quality of life in Beverly Hills. The Department is comprised of four distinct divisions: Administrative Support; Arts and Culture Services, Recreation Services; and Library Services; supported by strong administrative staff who provide a breadth of programs and services in support of ongoing operations. The Community Services Department serves this community in a number of key ways, helping to ensure a great quality of life for the residents of Beverly Hills, and helping to provide a welcoming environment for all our visitors to enjoy.

**Conviction History**
As a finalist for a job, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction (or arrest, in limited circumstances) conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you are a finalist. Having a conviction history does not automatically preclude you from a job with the City. If you are selected as a finalist, you will be contacted to schedule a fingerprinting appointment. The State of California also requires Childcare workers to complete a physical exam which includes Tuberculosis Screening (T.B. test) prior to hire.

**Conclusion**

Disaster Service Workers: All City of Beverly Hills employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

Major Duties

To coordinate the food service program for older adults, and to provide technical support to an assigned supervisor.

This is the journey level in the single-level, part-time Food Service Specialist technical class. With increasing experience, incumbents are expected to work independently.

Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. Provides direction to program volunteers.
- Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Set-up kitchen and food service area.
- Ensure food safety and handling guidelines are adhered to; monitor temperatures of food and equipment.
- Order food and supplies.
- Maintain detailed records of enrollment, clients served, meal tickets, and money collected.
- Clean and operate kitchen equipment.
- Maintains clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas.
- Monitor food quality and catering delivery service.
- Assign volunteer tasks in food handling and serving.
- Prepare reports and documentation on program activities.
- Prepare periodic status reports.
- Attend off-site meetings with City partners to discuss program activities and issues.
- Assist new or existing staff in learning departmental practices and protocols, methods, and procedures.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
- Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.
- Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
: Two years of responsible experience in coordinating a meal service program.

: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license as required by the position.
- Possession of ServSafe Food Manager Certification.
