Planner - Land Development

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead the planning process to define the general vision and long-term objectives for development of a project.
- Ensure projects meet local regulations and obtain necessary entitlements, including zoning changes and permits.
- Manage site planning, focusing on building placement, circulation, infrastructure, and landscaping.
- Collaborate with urban designers to create functional and aesthetically pleasing public spaces.
- Collaborate with Engineers for site, stormwater and utility design.
- Oversee subdivision planning, ensuring efficient infrastructure and amenities.
- Advocate for and implement sustainable and resilient design principles in projects.
- Collaborate with landscape architects for open space planning and design.
- Engage with the public and stakeholders to ensure community needs and concerns are addressed.
- Coordinate with transportation planners to ensure effective traffic flow and accessibility.
- Address environmental and ecological concerns, ensuring developments minimize negative impacts.
- Work with economic development teams to ensure developments bring economic benefits.
- Respect and preserve sites of historical or cultural significance.
- Stay updated with changes in zoning and land use regulations.
- Conduct feasibility studies for potential development projects.
- Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to in all planning processes.
- Uses GIS-ArView program to create maps and exhibits for studies and presentations.
- Engage with numerous permitting agencies.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, or a related field required.
- Professional Planner (AICP or equivalent) certification preferred.
- 5 years of experience in land development planning or related field preferred.
- Proficient in GIS-ArcView program.
- Proficient in using planning software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Good listener and team player with a positive attitude.
- Thorough understanding of sustainable and environmental considerations in planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
