**Position Summary**:
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide and maintain high quality services for staff, students, colleagues and community members who utilize the services assigned to this position. Strive for positive and collegial public relations with the administration, staff, students, colleagues and community members.
- Responsible for awarding and paying awards to students’ accounts in accordance with federal regulations and institutional awarding policies. Prior to transmitting funds to the student’s account, the Specialist must verify the student’s continued eligibility for each award. The Specialist may also need to investigate why a student’s aid is not transmitting and work to solve those issues accordingly.
- The Specialist will ensure that funds are deposited into the correct GL account and paid to the student’s account in a timely manner. When authorized, the Specialist will be required to generate and send invoices as requested by external entities.
- The Specialist is responsible for maintaining the student’s electronic financial aid file in compliance with federal regulations in order not to expose the Institution to undue risk.
- Frequent communication with the Student Financial Services Customer Service Team is to be expected. The Specialist will respond to inquiries from customer service in a professional and timely manner and will also make the Customer Service Team aware when unusual situations arise which may need special attention.

- Maintain Privacy: Ensure confidentiality in all areas to maintain compliance with FERPA, Identity Theft Prevention (Red Flags/GLBA), Credit Card Handling/Awareness (PCI-DSS), and other applicable privacy regulations at all times.
- Effective Communication Skills: Possess the skills to communicate effectively both in oral and written forms in order to provide clear and understandable instructions and information to coworkers and students. The Specialist must represent, both in attitude, speech, and appearance the ideals of Christian communication, exercising courtesy, patience, and consistency.
- Organizational Skills: Be well organized, with the ability to give significant attention to detail in order to prioritize work and accurately maintain student records.
- Computer Skills: Ability to perform certain basic computer functions including but not limited to Ellucian Colleague, Etrieve by Softdocs, Team Dynamix, and Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
- Work Experience: Experience in a university, business, or school preferred. Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of successful process management equivalent to the needs of the position.

**Additional Information**:
**EDUCATION**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
