STUDENT MINISTRIES PASTOR

**ROLE SUMMARY**:
The Student Ministries Pastor is responsible for the leadership, development, direction and implementation of the vision, strategy and tactical elements for all programs and activities related to student ministry (grades 6 through 12) at Mendham Hills Community Church.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Love for Jesus and a desire to see lives and communities changed by the gospel
- A personal, mature and growing relationship with Christ, evidenced by action, attitude and behavior
- Alignment and embracement of the vision, values and statement of faith of MHCC and support of the church leadership
- Fulfillment of the requirements and expectations of being a member of MHCC
- Strong personal presence that reflects a love for students and passion for ministry to them and their families
- A team player, comfortable working in a collaborative environment
- A self-starter, able to work without constant, direct supervision
- A positive attitude, flexibility and a servant’s heart: willing to contribute to the overall good of the staff team and MHCC by serving outside the Student Ministries Pastor role when needed

**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS**:

- Proven & demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to cast vision, build teams and develop leaders
- Strong organizational, planning, administrative and communication skills, including multi-tasking, time management, prioritizing and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer and technical competence in applicable areas
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with MHCC leadership, staff and volunteers
- The ability to exercise appropriate judgement, discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Establish and maintain a philosophy and long-term strategy for ministry in alignment with MHCC’s overall strategy, vision and goals
- Work collaboratively with the staff to ensure Student Ministries is contributing to the achievement of the overall vision and mission of MHCC
- Bring student ministry visibility to the church as a whole on a regular basis

ï Develop and maintain a well-planned, balanced program throughout the year, coordinated with the MHCC calendar
- Provide strategic leadership - _vision, development, direction and management _- and oversight for all aspects of student ministries, Junior High through Senior High _(including, but not limited to, Sunday School, weekly youth group meetings, small Bible studies, summer activities, retreats and special events)_
- Recruit and build volunteer teams - set direction, organize, train and shepherd
- Plan and conduct regular student ministry team meetings

ï Develop a communication plan and disseminate information to keep staff, volunteers and parents informed

ï Regularly contribute to the MHCC social media presence

ï Develop and maintain a strategy for assimilating new students and their families

ï Create, coordinate and communicate scheduling and staffing for all programs, activities and special events related to Student Ministries
- Be accessible to volunteers and available to teach or assist when needed

ï Provide volunteers with all lessons, materials and resources needed to serve in their roles
- Mentor, counsel and spend time with students outside of regularly-scheduled student ministries activities

ï Be available to talk with parents who are concerned about their students and/or mediate between parents and students in times of crisis
- Identify youth with leadership potential and assure opportunities are given for development

ï Oversee the selection and implementation of curriculum

ï Oversee and manage the Student Ministries budget

ï Develop, implement and maintain all safety and security processes, including background checks of volunteers and student release/permission forms
- Oversee the overall appearance and decoration of all rooms and physical spaces associated with Student Ministries, ensuring they are current, organized, neat, clean and in good repair
- Oversee, manage and care for equipment and “props”

ï Attend scheduled staff meetings, training and conferences

ï Pursue growth and development through reading, conferences and exchange of ideas with others
- Collaborate with Children’s Ministry Director to ensure the smooth transition of 5th graders into the youth program

- The Student Ministries Pastor reports to the Director of Ministry
