**The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Development is responsible for fundraising and development activities to build visibility, impact, and financial resources through the solicitation of major gifts, special events, and corporate and foundation support to meet revenue goals for a $8.5 million organization under the direction of the Chief Development Officer (CDO). The AVP provides leadership and direction to club staff to increase engagement and support of resource development and marketing efforts. The AVP of Development positions the board to cultivate and solicit major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, United Way, government agencies, and others with the support of the CDO. The AVP is responsible for providing leadership and direction to staff, as needed, in supporting resource development and marketing efforts.**

**The AVP of Development is also expected to be flexible and adaptable, taking on other duties assigned to support the organization's overall objectives.**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

**50% Resource Development**
- Collaborate with the CEO/President and Board of Directors to develop and execute a fund development plan that increases revenues to support the organization's strategic direction under the direction of the CDO.
- Direct and implement fundraising initiatives including mailings, campaigns, and annual fundraising drives.
- In collaboration with the CDO, lead major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on the prospective donor base and develop solicitation strategies.
- Supports to identify, recruit, and train board members to participate in solicitation and other income development activities.

**20% Donor Relations**
- Establish meetings, tours, and engagement opportunities with prospective donors and supporters to cultivate strong relationships.
- Collaborate with the CDO in the stewardship process to ensure donors are acknowledged and appreciated to foster long-term engagement.
- Represent the Club at networking and community events. Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials. Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth-serving organizations, members, parents, families, funders, and community organizations.

**20% Special Events**
- Set the strategic vision for organizational special events, including necessary goals and project timelines, under the direction of the CDO.
- Oversee team planning of logistics for special events, including obtaining sponsorships, soliciting gifts, and preparing related printed materials and publications.

**10% Additional Duties**
- Oversee a team of development staff providing leadership, support, and guidance to ensure the execution of development projects.
- Ensure design and development of public relations documents for use in the promotion of fundraising and education of the public, including press releases. Ensure the development and distribution of marketing documents.
- Increase visibility of Club development activities and maintain good public relations.

**BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Assistant Vice President of Development holds critical budgetary responsibilities, which include developing, managing, and overseeing the budget for all fundraising and development activities. This encompasses allocating resources efficiently to ensure financial targets, particularly the $9 million revenue goal, are met or exceeded.

**RELATIONSHIPS**

**Internal**:Maintain oral and written contact with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, staff peers, and volunteers for the purpose of exchanging information, providing progress reports regarding activities and planned programs, and coordinating events.

**External**: Maintain oral and written contact with other agencies, business leaders, community groups, boards of directors of such organizations, and the media for the purpose of exchanging information and ideas and for the purpose of fundraising.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Considerable knowledge of fund-raising techniques, and sources of funding for non-profit agencies and organizations.
- Knowledge of the Boys and Girls Clubs mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures and the principles and practices of non-profit organizations and youth development services preferred.
- Ability to organize and coordinate fund-raising operations.
