**Job Description**:
The Human Resources Specialist I ensures accurate and timely completion of Workday processing for the Human Resources office in the employment and talent acquisition area while maintaining a focus on compliance with Agency, System, State and Federal requirements. Reviews and processes hiring packets for wage and student positions. Implements quality controls and performs regular audits on HR employment files and databases. Other duties include assisting with developing training tools and special projects.

This position reports to the Talent Acquisition Manager.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (equivalency: will consider an Associates degree with three years of HR related experience or a High School Diploma/GED with five years of HR related experience).- One year of related experience in Human Resources.

Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of related HR experience (i.e. recruiting, talent acquisition, employment).- Experience working with an online applicant tracking/posting system.- HR experience working for a state entity.- PHR or SHRM-CP.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, load, or unload moderately weighed recruitment material.- Ability to remain stationary for extensive periods of time in an office environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Ability to work independently and use discretion in making decisions in accordance with the TEEX SAPs and/or any other rules as determined by Agency compliance.- Excellent communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.- Ability to interact with customers and others respectfully and professionally (students, vendors, staff, etc.).- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.- Ability to work independently once given a project.- Ability to actively demonstrate the TEEX Values - Safety, Teamwork, Adaptability, Respect, and Stewardship.- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing.- Ability to answer Teams telephone system, screen calls and route to additional staff as needed.- Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices.- Knowledge of state and federal policy related to employment.- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Notifications:
- This position is security sensitive.- This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.- This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.- All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.- As part of TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/HQ Department Head.- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:
Recruitment and Employment Support, Auditing and Compliance - 65%- Serves as a knowledgeable contact on Talent Acquisition/Employment team to assist internal and external customers.- Travels to TEEX remote offices and assists with HR inquiries.- Greets customers professionally, courteously and assists them with inquiries.- Processes employment actions to include, receiving, reviewing, tracking, and routing documents based on approved workflows, updating divisional representatives on status of actions to keep divisional and department personnel informed.- Performs credential verifications, background screenings, I-9 and verifies documentation.- Prepares offer letters and guides finalist through the entire hiring process.- Resolves hiring issues as they arise.- Assists new employees complete Onboarding tasks and trainings.- Prepares and maintains employment files for accuracy and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.- Attends student job fair at Blinn RELLIS, and TAMU part-time job fair as directed.
