Shelter Manager

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Shelter Manager to oversee the daily operations of our animal shelter. As an Animal Shelter Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day building operations, coordinating animal care and ensuring the well-being of all animals in our facility.

**Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate and oversee the care and feeding of animals in the shelter
- Work with the Executive Board and Animal Care Leads to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the humane treatment of animals
- Monitor animal behavior and provide behavior management as needed
- Administer medications and provide first aid to sick or injured animals
- Assist with the intake and adoption processes, including screening potential adopters
- Maintain accurate records of animal intake, adoptions, and medical treatments
- Collaborate with local veterinarians for medical care and spay/neuter programs
- Handle conflict management and crisis intervention situations with volunteers and the public
- Communicate effectively with the board, volunteers, and the public regarding shelter policies and procedures

**Experience**:

- Previous experience working in an animal shelter or similar environment is preferred
- Knowledge of animal behavior, health, and welfare
- Proficient in data entry and record keeping
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to handle stressful situations with composure and professionalism
- Experience in medication administration and basic first aid for animals is preferred
- Background in social work or related field is a plus
- Certification in animal welfare or related field is a plus

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 45 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evenings as needed
- Weekends as needed
