**Northwest Florida Community Hospital (NFCH), in Chipley, FL, is seeking a Full Time experienced, energetic, strong and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care for patients in support with the medical Providers, during the day shift, in our **Med Surg Unit**.**

- Work closely with other Nurses and Nursing Assistants to divide care tasks for patients.
- Provides direct patient care in an organized and timely manner. Demonstrates necessary skills in providing age appropriate care and documents per unit policy.
- Initiates and assists with emergency measures, identifies life-threatening arrhythmias and demonstrates knowledge of ACLS guidelines.
- Thorough understanding of all equipment on acute care units, including but not limited to; beds, scales, IV pumps, enteral feeding pumps, SCDs, respiratory equipment, etc.
- Initiates and maintains a sterile field and assist the physician as necessary with suturing, chest tube insertion, lumbar puncture, etc.
- Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age specific criteria, patient clinical condition and safety policy.
- Performs daily/nightly narcotic medication reconciliation checks with another licensed nurse to verify correct administration/documentation of scheduled drugs.
- Performs AccuChek testing per policy, ensures that controls are dated with opened and expiration date; responds and documents any actions taken in response to results.
- Maintains and updates patient charts per unit policy. Checks each chart for completeness prior to releasing record to health information.
- Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Provides a safe environment for patients and family members. Reduce the risk of patient falls by keeping patient rooms and areas free of excess clutter.
- Complies with infection control standards.
- Ensuring all confidentiality and privacy rights of residents are observe.
- Supports and promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values; adheres to all hospital policies and procedures; commits to the Standards of Conduct; maintains professional appearance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida and in good standing with the Board of Nursing
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion
- Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension
- Good collaboration and teamwork skills
- Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
- Keen attention to detail
- In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations

- Follow all established Federal, State and Local rules, regulations and guidelines.
