Description:
The Plastic Conversion Manager will lead and direct the operations of the plastic conversion department. The Plastic Conversion Manager is accountable for and focused on the development of the PCS team’s personnel ability to safely operate process equipment, anticipate operational problems in advance, and troubleshoot and respond to problems quickly. The Plastic Conversion Manager will work with their team to optimize safety and production and will work closely with other departments to delegate resources.

This position reports to the Operations Manager of Brightmark Plastic Renewal, LLC

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Execute Brightmark core values and vision
- Ensure that each team is properly trained on operating procedures and systems
- Identify improvement opportunities within the process and will lead solution implementation
- Coordinate projects with contractors, maintenance, team leads, management and production coordinators
- Work with HSE team to ensure all operators are up to date on training, following LOTO procedures, and prioritizing safety
- Collaborate with Engineering team to ensure operator compliance with process procedures, including developing checklists or methods of confirming compliance
- Manage chemical and catalyst inventory and schedule pre-required shutdowns along with process engineering and management
- Support hazard reviews (HAZOP or MOCs) as a participant and assisting Engineering with item resolutions and communicates results to direct reports
- Collaborate with Fuel Upgrade Manager on support resources, company priorities, and timelines based on company requirements and corporate goals
- Ensure product quality issues are adequately managed and communicated
- Independently set and achieve goals and milestones where responsibilities and accountability are identified
- Interact clearly, comfortably, and respectfully with all staff and internal and external clients
- Responsible for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions for direct reports
- Work with direct reports to continue and develop their education and understanding of the process

**Leadership and Personnel Development**
- Oversee weekly payroll for operators, ensuring accuracy and integrity in hours
- Work to schedule department staff efficiently to the business need and keep the team accountable for hours worked and overtime
- Learn the internal review process and compensation/bonus structures, assessing the staff fairly and to their displayed abilities

**Safety and Compliance**
- Accountable for department and personnel (Brightmark and contractors) safety performance
- Accountable for ensuring that significant safety, environmental and operational issues recognized are either mitigated by the shift team personnel, or assistance requested as appropriate
- Accountable for use and management/retention of operating procedures used on shifts and accountable for managing operating procedure deviations encountered

**Unit Operations and Maintenance**
- Accountable for delivering the plastic conversion operations plan, and the items assigned within the plan (equipment prep for maintenance, etc.)
- Accountable for ensuring constraints (operating envelopes, environmental constraints, product quality, optimization/efficiency variables, etc.) are proactively managed by the team and the desired results are delivered daily
- Accountable for identifying maintenance needs and initiation of appropriate work requests
- Accountable for maintaining quality start/end of shift team meetings, quality logbook entries and quality shift relief
- Responsible for completing “what if” drills (simulated situations) per direction of Plant Manager
- Accountable for scheduling operations team to have 24/7 coverage and following disciplinary procedure for absences and call outs

**Requirements**:

- A Bachelor’s degree in chemical, industrial, or related field is preferred
- Five (5) or more years of refinery/petrochemical operations experience is required
- Ten (10) or more years of refinery/petrochemical operations experience is required in lieu of university degree
- Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience is strongly preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and rotating schedule is required
- Strong written and verbal communicator
- Strong managerial, technical, interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven leadership and influencing skills
- Experience in analytical skills and process improvements
