At Girls in the Game every girl finds her voice, discovers her strength and leads with confidence through fun and active leadership, sports and health programs. Our programs empower all girls to be gamechangers in their own lives and in their communities. We strive to serve girls year-round and over the long-term and offer a continuum of programs for girls at each stage in their development.

Position Summary-September-June

Our After School program operates in over 30 schools and parks throughout Chicago, and follows a set curriculum covering sports and fitness, health, and leadership development. The South Regional Coordinator will coach our After School program 4-5 days per week and serve as the main contact and coordinator for up to 8-9 sites located in south side communities in Chicago. Curriculum rotates regularly to expose girls to a wide variety of sports and fitness opportunities. Each site operates once a week for 90 minutes and serves an average of 25 girls. All sites have two coaches.

The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting participants, communicating with caregivers and site contacts, and supporting part-time coaches leading programming at these sites. In addition, the South Regional Coordinator will seek opportunities to deepen our relationships with community stakeholders. The After School program has three age groups: elementary (grades 3-5), middle (grades 6-8), and teens (grades 9-12). The Regional Coordinator may be assigned sites which serve the same age group, or they may have both elementary and middle school sites. Regional Coordinators will also collaborate with the Citywide team to host recruitment Game Days at schools and recruit for citywide events.

The Regional Coordinator will also support general After School Programming through taking on assigned special projects such as middle school program development, evaluation scheduling, coach coordination. The Regional Coordinator will also take a lead role in training and communication with other After School Program Coaches.

Position Summary-July-August

Our Sports and Leadership Summer Camp is open to 130 girls ages 7-13. Day camp operates from 9 am - 3 pm Monday through Friday beginning in early July and running for four to five consecutive weeks. Girls participate in sports, health and leadership rotations in the morning, eat lunch together, swim, and participate in teambuilding activities in the afternoons. There is also an optional overnight camp portion for the last three days and two nights of camp for participants ages 8 and over.

The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for supporting camp staff in recruiting After School Program participants to the program in the weeks before camp starts. Once camp starts the Regional Coordinator will be responsible for preparing curriculum and equipment to lead either a sports or health and leadership rotation in the morning, supervising lunch and swim times and engaging participants in teambuilding activities. Program Coordinators will also be responsible for communicating with caregivers and for some administrative tasks. This position reports to the Senior Programs Manager and works cooperatively with 3 Regional Coordinators and approximately 28 seasonal coaches.

This position reports to the Senior Programs Manager and works cooperatively with an After School team of 4-5 full-time staff and approximately 35 seasonal coaches and interns. The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Act as the main contact for the After School program at 8-9 sites in communities on the south side of Chicago
- Coach 4-5 afternoons per week
- Recruit participants
- Communicate with girls, parents/guardians and site contacts to ensure an 80 percent attendance rate and enrollment of 25-30 participants at each site
- Support coaches at assigned sites
- Plan program sessions and lead curriculum
- Record enrollment and attendance for assigned sites
- Assist with equipment inventory and distribution as needed
- Research and attend 2-3 community events a season
- Update and create community profile and asset map of communities
- Other duties as assigned
- Facilitate Rotations at Summer Camp
- Assist with daily Summer Camp logistics

Qualifications:

- Some college, preferably with coursework in health, youth or teen development, education, or a related field
- At least two years of experience working with children and leading groups
- Athletic ability is not required, but applicants must be able to learn and demonstrate the basic skills of multiple sports and fitness activities
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer environments, e.g. Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Lived experience and familiarity with south side communities a plus
- Must be able to travel daily to sites throughout Chicago
- Spanish conversation skills a plus
