Payroll Associate I

**Description**

Prepares payroll records for processing and assists employees and refinery HR with questions concerning payroll, time reporting, or company policies. Ensures accurate and timely payroll.
- Reports onsite, Monday - Friday, to assist with general payroll needs.
- Compiles, verifies, and enters timecard data into the payroll system.
- Supports Supervisors with Kronos scheduling.
- Determines and tracks time reporting (leave, overtime, holiday, callout work, etc.).
- Provides training to new hires and current employees with timecard procedures.
- Reviews, analyzes, and checks payroll journals to ensure accuracy and makes the necessary adjustments or corrections as needed.
- Assists with verifying payroll information for all new hires, current employees, and past employees.
- Assists with the processing and distribution of regular and off-cycle (meal overtime, etc.) paychecks.
- Runs and distributes various payroll and monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (manpower, employee listings, overtime, etc.).
- Assists with tracking Attendance Management absences.
- Assists with fatigue management reporting and manages exceptions in database.
- Maintains payroll procedures manual and Kronos manual.
- Maintains local pay practices document.
- Assists with ordering and generating yearly Operations shift calendar.
- Assists with generating yearly vacation packages/templates and memos.
- Supports employees with expense reports and per diem requests.
- Handles office supply inventory and ordering.
- Manages mail distribution.
- Assists with employee newsletter and HR portal.
- Assists with planning and implementing employees’ events.
- Follows all safety rules and guidelines as established by the Refinery.
- Works on a full time basis at the assigned location and arrive to work at scheduled start time.
- Works in a collaborative, onsite work environment, which will include participation in unscheduled discussions and troubleshooting on an as needed basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.

The rate for this position is $18.58 to $25.54 and represents Valero’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation at the time of this posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of job-related factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications and experience.

**Qualifications**
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1 year of general Human Resources or payroll experience preferred.
- Experience using 10-key, SAP, and Microsoft Office programs preferred.
- Kronos experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) experience preferred.

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
