This role involves designing an age-appropriate curriculum, promoting healthy habits, delivering engaging lessons, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. The School Health and Wellness Educator collaborates with school staff, parents, and community resources to support students in making informed decisions about their health and developing lifelong healthy habits.

**WHAT WE'RE ABOUT**
- **Mission: We're closing the opportunity gap. **Students and families in Southeast D.C. have too few options for high-quality elementary, middle, and high schools. Ingenuity Prep aspires to right this systemic injustice, providing an exemplary educational option for Southeast D.C.'s students and families.
- **Model: We pair high expectations with high support.** Too often, our students are underestimated. At Ingenuity Prep, an innovative teacher development model, paired with best-in-class training from strong instructional leaders, allows us to grow great teachers who, ultimately, lead _high-expectation_ and _high-support_ classrooms.
- **Results: Our students are defying expectations**. Ingenuity Prep's students outperform their neighborhood peers on rigorous, national, college-track assessments. Already out-performing many of their more privileged peers around the city, in the coming years, Ingenuity Prep's students will provide an expectation-defying and achievement-gap-closing proof point — showing what our kids are capable of when we provide the right opportunities, expectations, and support.

- Identify students needing additional support and collaborate with school counselors or other professionals to address their needs.
- Facilitate the coordination of resources and activities to support staff wellness and mindfulness initiatives throughout the school year

**Family and Community Involvement**
- Utilize community resources to enhance wellness programming and promote community engagement.
- Communicate regularly with parents about the wellness program and provide resources for extending wellness practices at home.
- Work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to address the holistic needs of students

**Health Education Programs**
- Collaborate with the school's student support team to coordinate tier 1 interventions that address individual and broader wellness needs.
- Develop and conduct health education workshops for students, addressing stress management, healthy coping mechanisms, and building resilience.
- Implement peer support programs to create a supportive environment where students can connect and support each other.
- Keep detailed records of interventions and outcomes for students; provide reports on the effectiveness of tier 1 interventions and make recommendations for improvements.
