Vista Del Mar provides a trauma-responsive continuum of services to empower children, youth, and families in Southern California to lead fulfilling lives.
**Role Overview**:
The Vista Village Home Visitor (Bilingual) is a member of the interdisciplinary Home-Based Early Head Start (EHS) program team and is responsible for providing parent/family home visitation and socialization group support and child development enrichment activities and collaborating with staff, parents and community agencies with an emphasis on social justice and equity. Supports the Vista Village vision of nurturing, equitable beginnings and the implementation of Head Start Performance Standards.
**_ Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned):_**
- Demonstrates a commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
- Caseload of approximately 10 families (and not more than 12 families) of diverse backgrounds with children 0-3 years and pregnant clients.
- Conduct screenings and assessments of families and children, including developmental screening and ongoing assessment of children, family, nutrition, dental, health care tracking, home safety, and prenatal care.
- Collaborate with families utilizing child development screenings/ongoing assessments to create individualized goals and objectives for each child. Incorporate home visitor and parent observations in addition to Regional Center IFSP goals (as appropriate) into these plans.
- Develop Family Partnership Agreement with family, including individual/family goals and objectives.
- Provide in-home counseling, developmental guidance, parent education, nutrition and dental care information, support and case management services that are aligned with our justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion values.
- Advocate and uplift the families we work with to gain access to services and spaces that will support their needs and goals.
- Consult with Health Services staff for determination of child health status upon child's entry into the program and for ongoing monitoring of infant/child health. Work with parents to increase their understanding of their child's health needs (including preventative care) and their role in supporting their child's health.
- Case coordination and collaboration with other Home-Based EHS staff, Vista Village staff and community providers.
- Support parent advocacy efforts to decrease Black and Latinx maternal and infant mortality as well as other discrimination-based health and opportunity disparities.
- Maintain up to date documentation of all home visits, developmental and behavioral (social-emotional) screenings, other screenings and assessments, case coordination, and other client contacts in client files and in electronic data management system.
- Assist parents and children in preparing for transition out of EHS and into other services.
- Participate in outreach and recruitment efforts to support referrals of eligible families into the program.
- Holds additional responsibilities for various aspects of program functioning. May include facilitation of parent-child socialization groups, planning and/or participation in special events, and other assignments as needed.
- Represent Vista Village and the EHS program at community meetings.
- Perform all Early Head Start job duties in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.
