The Ward Clerk’s responsibilities are but not limited to:

Responsibilities

• Record medical and administrative information in accordance with our established charting and documentation policies and procedures.

• Maintain loose filing of lab reports, x-ray reports and consults.

• Collect entire discharge record including the current thinning and previous discharge chart and bring to Medical Records the day of discharge.

• Perform daily audits as needed, referring to audit schedule.

• Weekly ask for physician’s orders and progress notes to chart as needed.

• File medication, treatment and PRN sheets monthly into the resident’s chart after being checked by RN Supervisor.

• Maintain an up-to-date roster of residents for your assigned station with name and room number, excluding residents’ doors.

• Record appropriate resident identification data on designated medical records, wristbands, etc., as required.

• Provide the unit with the list of residents on B&B training and residents who are diabetic, deaf, blind and no CPR status. (Submitted by Social Services and Nursing department).

• Complete necessary medical and administrative records upon the resident’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge.

• Other duties as required.

Experience and Skills

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and general public.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Team player.
