Drug and Alcohol Counselor

**Drug and Alcohol Counselor - (Temple/Episcopal Campus - 16 hours days)**

This position will be based at TUH-E. The Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Counselor will conduct drug and alcohol assessments, (including usage of standardized criteria such as ASAM), and complete individual and group therapy on all inpatient behavioral health units and medical unit (C6) using a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive behavior therapy. The D&A Counselor will also engage family members, aftercare providers and additional support services as needed during the patient's treatment. The D&A Counselor may also be asked to assist in completing behavioral health assessments, as needed.
Education
Bachelors or higher Degree: Applicable fields would include Chemical Dependency, Psychology, Social Work or other related majors. (required)
Full certification as an addictions counselor by a statewide or national certification body (preferred)
Experience
1 year of direct patient contact including organizing and conducting therapeutic activities with adults. (required)
Knowledge of general AA/NA principles and techniques. (required)
Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical setting (required)
1 year experience in Drug and Alcohol setting providing
substance abuse counseling (preferred)
Use of Electronic Medical Records (preferred)
License/Certifications
ASAM - American Society Addiction Med (preferred) or CAAP - Cert Allied Addiction Pract (preferred) or PCPC - PA Client Placement Criteria (preferred)Your Tomorrow is Here
