Summary:
The Clinical Desk Facilitator manages and oversees staffing concerns, supervises IRU/PCD personnel, as well as participates in performance improvement, DNV readiness, and quality initiatives. The Clinical Desk Facilitator works with their Team Leader/Manager/Director to complete employee performance appraisals, acts as a role model for the staff and functions as a liaison for the Manager/Director and other hospital leadership members.

**Experience/Education Requirements**:

- Graduation from an approved school of nursing, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- 2-3 years of nursing experience required
- Background in procedural/surgical care preferred

**License or Certification Requirements**:

- Current Illinois RN registration
- Current CPR BLS required
- Current ACLS certification within 3 months of hire

**Responsibilities**:

- Works closely with direct care personnel to ensure delivery of quality patient care. Takes a direct patient care assignment as necessary.
- Facilitates patient throughput. Takes lead role in implementing changes.
- Supports and coaches unit personnel in development.
- Staffing and scheduling of unit personnel.
- Ensures that patient assignments are appropriate for patient needs and staff qualifications.
- Participates and ensures that rounding for outcomes occur daily.
- Offers assistance to physicians and staff as needed.
- Communicates with and informs physician or nursing house supervisor of any information pertaining to patient care.
- Maintains responsibility for nursing unit on 24/7 basis, unless otherwise approved.
- Coordinates care delivery through the utilization of department, organization, and community models and resources, critical thinking, interdisciplinary teamwork, patient advocacy, and the unique nurse-patient connection. Identifies and uses available resources to define and implement the plan of care.
- Assists Team Leader/Manager with unit operations.

**Blood and Body Fluids: Frequent contact with IV devices and high potential for contact with contaminated body fluids (blood, vomitus, stool, and amniotic fluid) does create a high risk. However, appropriate usage of needleless IV system, universal precautions, and protective equipment should greatly minimize risk.**

**TB or Airborne Pathogens: Minimal risk exists, given the patient population; however, usage of protective clothing and universal precautions minimize any existing risk**

**_Sensory requirements (speech, vision, smell, hearing, touch): _**

**Speech: Needed for communication with patients, family, staff, and MDs.**

**Vision: Needed to perform necessary assessments of patient status; medication administration; usage of computer terminals.**

**Smell: Helpful to note presence of incontinence, vomitus, blood; electrical/fire safety.**

**Hearing: Needed to hear patient call lights, yells for help, patient concerns; alarms (i.e.
